[Nov 5] Screening Documentary on Argenchinos (Argentine-Chinese): “Seeds that Fall from Their Roots,” and Post-screening Dialogue with Director Tomás Lipgot

Film Synopsis: In the Argentine popular imagination, it is said that if we dig a deep well, we would reach China, which is nothing more opposite and distant from us. Despite being our antipodes, migration connects us. This documentary aims to explore the uniqueness of Chinese migrants and the variety of experiences they are currently experiencing in Argentina. "Seeds that Fall far from Their Roots" presents stories such as those of Yinyin, a woman passionate about gardening, who plants seeds from both countries in the same soil through her community work; Teresa Yuan, a psychoanalyst who introduced the practice in China; Gustavo Ng, an active journalist; and Federico Chang, the son of immigrants who trains to become a professional footballer. These narratives, along with others from the Argentine-Chinese community, intimately and reflectively present the crossroads between both cultures, bringing us closer to those who experience the conflict of identity and attachment on a daily basis.
