Muriel Barbery is a French writer born in 1969. She had a great success with the publication of the following two books: "Une Gourmandise" and especially "L'élégance du hérisson". Translated into 12 languages and selling 200,000 copies, "Une Gourmandise" tells the story of the greatest food critic, who, having learned that he was living his last days, goes in search of a very special but elusive flavour that takes him back to his childhood. In 2006 Gallimard published "L'élégance du Hérisson", which literally propelled her among the best popular authors. She is notably ranked in the 10 best-selling novelists in 2007. It sold more than a million copies and was translated into 34 languages. She received the Prix des Librairies and the Prix des Bibliothèques pour tous. She was also awarded the Georges Brassens Prize and the Rotary International Prize.
